Executive directors and divisional and regional associates in Life Care’s Central Division have been participating in a book club of sorts.

Since May 1, 2019, these leaders have been reading “Leaders Eat Last” by Simon Sinek at the same time and discussing what they’ve learned via email.

“Jared Houck (division vice president) and I were discussing ideas about how to continue the momentum following the divisional team reading ‘Strengths Finder,’” shared Jaimie Corradini, division director of human resources. “We devote so much time investing in the development of the facility staff that sometimes we miss out on the leaders.”

The leaders are following a reading plan to read a certain chunk of the book at a time and discuss via email blasts every two or three weeks. The book is about the importance of leaders taking care of people.

“A few EDs have read the book before, so they were welcoming a chance to reread it,” said Corradini. “I think the EDs are enjoying the book.”

Kathi Hignite-Owens, executive director at Mitchell Manor in Mitchell, Indiana, shared, “I am enjoying the opportunity to learn more about leadership and discuss the topic with my peers and leadership team.”
